  13.                     HERE'S HOW SHAREWARE WORKS:

  15. You are encouraged to copy the PC-File+ diskettes and share them freely with
  16. others.  You have the luxury of trying out the complete programs, at your
  17. own pace and in the comfort of your own home or workplace.  This is not a
  18. crippled or "demo" copy, but the complete working version of the program.

  20. If, after trying out the programs, you decide to continue to use them, you
  21. are trusted to purchase PC-File+ from the program's author, or from an
  22. authorized dealer.  Your support is important and greatly appreciated.
  23. With it, Shareware authors are encouraged to design and distribute new
  24. products.  Without it, a great deal of high quality, low cost software will
  25. cease to be available.

  45.       distribution method which doesn't rely on expensive

  53. restrictions, designed to protect the community of Shareware users and
  54. authors, and to prevent greedy people from taking unfair advantage of the

  57. 1. No price or other consideration may be charged. However, a distribution
  58.    cost may be charged for the cost of the diskettes, shipping, and
  59.    handling, not to exceed $3 total (equivalent U.S. dollars).
  60.    Exceptions must be obtained in writing from ButtonWare.

  62. 2. The files and programs on the disks may not be modified nor deleted.
  63.  
  64. 3. The programs cannot be sold as part of some other more inclusive package.
  65.  
  66. 4. The programs cannot be "rented" or "leased" to others.
  67.  
  68. 5. The printed manual cannot be copied or reproduced in any way.

  70. 6. In the case of distribution via computerized "bulletin boards" or through
  71.    any other telecommunications link the following must be done:
  72.     *  X-Modem or some other error checking protocol must be used
  73.     *  All ButtonWare programs (and documentation files) must be transferred
  74.        in a library format.  That means the files have all been combined
  75.        into one file.  You can get assistance with this procedure from the
  76.        Technical Support Department at ButtonWare.

  78. 7. If you're copying the disks for distribution to students in a classroom,
  79.    you must provide them with the following written notice:

  110. ---------
  111. Shell to run Baker's Dozen programs, intended to help you get
  112. started.  Runs BAKERS12.EXE using file DOZEN.TBL.  Normally you
  113. should run Baker's Dozen programs by themselves.

  115. To start:

  118. Select options.  When finished, press X or Esc.

  121. BTTNCALC.EXE
  122. ------------
  123. One page spreadsheet, help screens.  Requires 256K,
  124. full IBM PC compatability.

  130.        n = background color (0,1,...7)

  224.    filespec is the starting location and definition of

  232.             located.

  250. -------
  251. Print files at 90 degrees.
  252. Requires full IBM PC compatability and an Epson
  253. compatible printer.  If not fully compatible with IBM
  254. PC, may run using parameters.

  281. Sort files with up to 4 fields where each field may be
  282. ascending or descending, case sensitive or case
  283. insensitive.

  289. especially from .BAT files:

  292. sorts file INPUT as ascending, case sensitive, for the

  297. Like above except field 1 defined as /d/sC#/L# and

  303.    C# = beginning column number for field.

  308. PRN_FILE.EXE
  309. ------------
  310. Redirects all information normally sent to your printer
  311. to a disk file.

  316. You will be asked for program to run and where to save
  317. printer output.

  319. You may specify the program to run and its parameters as
  320. parameters:

  328. RDIR.EXE
  329. --------
  330. Remove subdirectory including all files and all children
  331. directories.

  339. The directory named in pathspec will be removed after
  340. user confirmation.  If no disk is given, default drive
  341. assumed.

  345. SET_SCRN.EXE
  346. ------------
  347. Set screen border color and default screen colors.
  348. Requires the line DEVICE=ANSI.SYS in CONFIG.SYS
  349. file and full IBM PC compatability.  No parameters.

  353.  
  354. Select the colors you want and then exit the program.
  355. Creates the file SETSCRN.COM which you may then use in
  356. your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and to reset screen colors.  Does
  357. not work with Borland's Lightning.
  358. SNAPSHOT.COM
  359. ------------
  360. Take pictures of any 80 column screen (not graphics) in
  361. any program.  May be installed as resident program, but
  362. not necessary.  Requires full IBM PC compatability.
  363.  
  364. To start:
  365. C>snapshot s=res c=n f=filespec b=on
  366.  
  367. where:
  368.    s=res causes program to becom resident.
  369.    c=n   provides background color for review
  370.          screen.  (n=1,2..6)
  371.    f=filespec name and location of where snapshots
  372.          should be stored.  There must be no file
  373.          extension.  E.g. c:\subdir\snap
  374.    b=on  for PC-TYPE owners, this option will
  375.          distinguish between high and low intensity
  376.          and turn bold printing on or off
  377.          accordingly.

  379. Minimum parameters to run:

  381. C>snapshot
  382.  
  383. Will not be resident, hence you will be asked to enter
  384. the program of which you want to take snapshots.  Review
  385. screen will be black and white.  Snapshots will be saved
  386. in files SNAPSHOT.NN on default directory where NN will
  387. be 01, 02, .... 99.   No PC-TYPE bolding.
  388.  
  389. To take a snapshot, press Alt Ctrl P.   To review
  390. snapshots, press Alt Ctrl R.
